John and I got to go to Siggraph this year. It is the International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. (yes, I know--long name!) First we parked in chinatown, thinking that the parking situation at the Convention Center would be quite a B-I-T-C-H. We then took the metrolink from Chinatown to the Union Station and then to the Convention Center. Honestly, I've never taken the subway in Los Angeles. I have taken the DASH bus twice, but that were for short rides. So... here I am taking pictures at the Chinatown Metrolink station--just like a tourist! Anyhow, as we got to Siggraph, we realized that we could have easily found parking near the Convention Center. There was uh... no one! Okay, I'm exagerating--but still, the parking lots were half full.
The entire event didn't appeal to me. I was bored. It is not like the E3 (back in the day at least!) The highlight of my day was when people recognized John when he presented himself at some stands. As we picked up a book where John's art work was being featured, they asked him to autograph a whole bunch of their books. He's a Super Star!
Here are some pictures.
